Te Ruru Light Festival - pop up

Friday 11 June 2021
Te Ruru Light Festival is back for 2021 with a one-night-only pop-up event on June 11th as part of Hamilton’s Innovating Streets Project.
This whānau-friendly event is an opportunity to dip your toes into creativity. Outstanding light artwork by local creatives is FREE for all, for one night only in Hamilton's freshest space for people: Rostrevor Street reconnecting the parks.
From 6 pm – 10 pm (weather permitting), we’ll be lighting up Hinemoa and Boyes Parks. You'll see favourites from last year’s pop-up festivals as well as some new works including a live performance with projections onto Founders Theatre.
Rostrevor Street will host food trucks for Te Ruru alongside the swings, parkour, and street art of its Innovating Streets trial. Grab some kai, check out the street art, and explore the glowing installations of Te Ruru amongst the trees!
Te Ruru Light Festival is a unique family-friendly cultural art experience in the heart of our city under the stars of Matariki. This annual event transforms Kirikiriroa (Hamilton) into an engaging world of light and art. The festival offers an opportunity for our community to feed our hearts and minds with art, culture and the stories of Kirikiriroa.
Te Ruru Popup is a Hamilton Kirikiriroa Innovating Streets event supported by Hamilton City Council and Waka Kotahi-NZ Transport Agency.

Special thanks to our awesome sponsors and supporters Hamilton City Council, Waka Kotahi, Wintec, CBD Events, Momentum, ACLX, Resene, NES Hire, Creative Waikato, Trust Waikato, and Matariki ki Waikato. Ngā mihi nui mō ā koutou tautoko. You're helping create a more vibrant city!
