This year the combined Production by Hamilton Boys and Girls High Schools is being hosted by Hamilton Girls’ High School and will be performed in Nga Pua Waitanga at HGHS from August 4 - 11.
Much Ado About Nothing is one of William Shakespeare’s best loved comedies. The play follows the story of two sets of young lovers. After returning from war Claudio and Benedick fall in love with Hero and Beatrice. But love is not so simple, and gossip, rumour and eavesdropping all come to play in this comic tale of love, tricks, rejection and rekindled love.
‘Shakespeare is expandable and visual and offers terrific potential to make the look visually sumptuous. His plays are both universal and for all time.’ Margie Wynne-Jones
The wonderfully lush and humourous show set in Tuscany in 1800 is directed by Margie Wynn-Jones and features a cast of 60 talented actors and musicians including Chelsea Kelly, Stella Stomp, Oliver Simpson and Dylan Poihipi. The cast has been rehearsing hard three days a week since early May. The Show features a live band of 16 students called the Italian Musos, with music arranged by Noah Page and conducted by Joanna Dickinson. Girls High is well known for its stunning costumes, which this year have been created by Robyn Winder and Joy Wright. The show is shaping up to be a spectacular not to be missed.
